This post is probably more for beginners, so sorry if it bores any of the more intermediate/advanced learners.^^;
As someone who has trouble with learning vocab, unless I hear it over and over again, a method like this really helps!
Something that sparks a lot of people’s interest in Korean (if it’s not dramas,) it’s K-pop. So why not make learning Korean vocab even more fun using something you like?
I can’t tell you that learning Korean grammar structures through K-pop is really a smart idea, but, it really helps with vocab and can even help with pronunciation.
It’s really easy to find the lyrics to K-pop songs online, all you have to do is Google them!
Or, if you’re looking to practice reading faster, you can always watch the live performances, (which 9/10 have the lyrics on the left hand bottom of the screen) or just look up the videos + lyrics on Youtube!
It really helps with pronunciation if you sing aloud with the singers, because you can hear them and try to match their voices. Although this may not be the best method for everyone.
And lastly, if you’re not into K-pop, but say, more interested in something like 판소리, which can have more traditional Korean language, those too have lyrics in the performance videos!
Just find new words and look them up the meanings on online dictionaries!
So, it’s like a win-win. While you repeatedly play your favorite songs, you’ll be studying at the same time, just by listening and recognizing the words and their meanings.
